Suðureyri, located in Tálknafjord in the southern part of the Westfjords of Iceland has a remarkable history indeed. It was nothing less than the center of activity in Tálknafjörður. In 1893-1911 Norwegian whale hunters had a base there and again in 1935 - 1939 when it was the only whale hunting factory in Iceland. Now it is deserted but the history is presented here by Pétur Bjarnason.
