Lárus Snorrason Welding's rise to prominence in Iceland's banking system before the Economic Crisis of 2008 - 2009, was fast and admirable. In 2007 he became the CEO of one of Iceland's biggest banks, Glitnir. Just over a year later, the bank was bankrupt.
