Historian Valur Gunnarsson has been studying the history of the
eastern part of Europe, Russia and Ukraine. Here he however dwells in
the often futuristic city of Berlin. A city that for four decades was split
in two. People visited Eastern Berlin to see a world upside down as
Valur puts it while Western Berlin was almost anarchistic but under
regulations. Artists stayed there for long or short periods and
marveled at the spirit of Berlin.
