The author of this book, Guðfinna Ragnarsdóttir, was born in Reykjavík in the old town but moved at the age of four to Laugarnes which was a booming new neighborhood at the time.
Her tale is a personal and insightful description of Reykjavík at the time. The population was increasing with new neighborhoods and changes in society and culture. Guðfinna is a geologist and has been working as a journalist after graduating from journalism school in Stockholm where she lived for years before settling back in Iceland and teaching and the Menntaskólinn in Reykjavík.
